To The Dentist We All Go

Today was the day we all went to the dentist. I thought it was silly to bring a 1 year old to the dentist, but judging by how much she dislikes assistance with brushing, we thought it wouldn't hurt. Ryan enjoyed his cleaning first and then I passed off a busy baby to him. My turn came and I got to share the hot seat with Miss Natalie. She wasn't so sure of the dentist, but she enjoyed my lap. She gave me big loves to make sure I was calm for my polishing. Ever had a male dental assistant? We hadn't either. He is great.

I can remember way back when Natalie couldn't support her own heavy head. I would prop her up in the corner of the rocker and she would slide down. Today, she wanted in the rocker herself. She is now a big girl, so step aside. She rocked and did a little light reading by the fire.

Many of you may think we are crazy, and you have a little bit of a reason to do so. We do not let Natalie watch TV. Research shows that ADHD and ADD has been effected by children under 3 watching TV. She is so busy, I cannot imagine ADD on top of it.

It has kind of made me go a little crazy at times, but every evening without TV can really pull a family even closer. (That doesn't sound like me?) We end up chasing Natalie around, playing legos, folding laundry, roasting coffee...really fun things.

But there comes a time when you want/need to watch it. Need may be pushing it, but we NEED to workout at home. So, the brillian engineer in the house made the contraption in the picture below. A faux wood 2" blind, on a stand, tilted just so a small person cannot see from the floor, but the tall Mom and Dad (Ha) can watch a workout video. It works great!

I have to share this Mom brain moment. I threw Natalie in the van, realized we needed fuel, waited for the tank to fill and thought "Hmmm, my feet sure are warm." Looked down and realized I had slippers on. Yeah. Headed home right away. That would have been terrible to go to a business meeting in slippers and pearls.

Coolest shoe store ever! (Below)
