Christmas is Coming...

We are all very excited that Christmas is right around the corner. Presents are wrapped, the pantry is stocked and the house is temporarily spotless. Thanks to Ryan, Carolyn and Whit, our house received a deep clean. We are ready!

The dogs are also ready for Santa.
Ginger and Lilo just love their Santa hats. Can you tell?
It was quite time consuming getting them both to sit.

"C" Street Bungalow

Fall at the Bungalow has been a hoot. Just as most projects take longer than expected, we also ran into some delays in carpet install and found some rotten flooring. Gotta love it. Very soon we will have real before and afters.

Ryan removed a wall that leads down the stairs.
The laundry room was being prepped for new vinyl.

The rotten floor needed to be replaced. Luckily at 7pm on Sunday evening when Ryan uncovered it, he found the perfect size of plywood left from another project. Whew.

The hallway will soon be carpet. :)

Floors are done and the upstairs is much more like a home. Downstairs....well the photos tell the story.

Basecamp on 'C' Street

Today was a lot of a waiting game. Joint compound the walls, wait for it to dry, sand it…repeat. Terrible in this hot of weather.  We did however break down and get an air conditioner. You can’t paint in a 90 degree house.
Although not a lot has changed, here are some updates:
This our kitchen for the week. Looks terrible, but it is working out all right.

Hood River House Purchase=Big Project

Hood River House Remodel

“What are we doing?”   -   “What is our problem?”   -  “Seriously? Another project?”
Just a few comments that Ryan has said in the last week or so! Yes, we are gluttons for punishment. We take on big projects that look brighter on the other side and in most all cases, it is. It doesn’t help that we signed on the dotted line for this second house mortgage just weeks after finding out we are expecting a little one to our family in February. Kind of a lot to take on, but here goes. The worst part is that I am cut out of much of the house project help. I cannot be around intoxicating fumes, whereas before, I would have tackled most any high VOC project. What doesn't include toxic fumes or flying dust particulates in a construction zone.
So for now, I am stuck in the basement blogging (which isn’t terrible since it is blazing hot upstairs) while my rents and Ryan tackle the remodel. I am food and drink girl with the occasion of go-fetch girl. Here are some before shots of the place. I will post after shots as the work continues.

8.13.12 -- Today was big. Floors are finally being finished with the sanding piece of the puzzle. Later in the week we will stain and seal. Ryan and my Mom have really put their back into it. Dust is flying and they are sweating up a storm. It is 95 outside and the house isn’t much cooler upstairs. Where I chill with the chi chi’s-- much cooler. The worst part is that I don’t have internet service in the basement. I have to drag my sorry butt upstairs to get service. Oh, and it isn’t internet that I am paying for. It is stolen from Eric and Heidi’s house. They are cool with it. J Here are some updated pictures of the kitchen being demo’d, the entrance to the living room opened up and the floors looking raw. Oh, did I mention that this endeavor was our summer vacation plan? My parents too. Poor people.
